Prof. Dr. Pierre-Yves Pontalier has been a professor of process engineering at the National Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse since 1998. He has been working for 30 years in the field of separation processes, particularly membrane processes and liquid-solid separation.
He is the author of 50 peer-reviewed articles, 3 patents, and 4 book chapters in the field of liquid-solid separation.
He has served as president of the French Filtration Society (SF2P) since 2019 and chairs the organizing committee of the 14th World Congress on Filtration (2025).

Philippe Behra has been Full Professor at the Institut National Polytechnique of Toulouse, France, in analytical and environmental chemistry since 2000. After his education in mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology, he obtained an engineering degree in environment and water sciences from Engees, the National School for Water and Environmental Engineering of Strasbourg, France.
He then obtained a PhD in fluid mechanics and water technology from the University of Strasbourg. During his PhD, he was one of the first researchers to demonstrate the transport of colloids through porous media and was a pioneer in developing the concept of reactive transport.
He spent three years at Eawag – Aquatic Research near Zürich, Switzerland, working on atmospheric water chemistry with Profs. L. Sigg and W. Stumm, with whom he wrote a textbook on aquatic chemistry, Chimie des milieux aquatiques, 5th edition, Dunod, Paris, 2014. He was a research fellow at CNRS, the French National Centre for Scientific Research, in Strasbourg before moving to Toulouse.
As a physical chemist, he focuses on the behaviour of contaminants in water, soil and atmosphere, as well as the role of water in solid-liquid reactivity from the molecular to the watershed scale. Since 2018, he has led, with 50 researchers, a project on the consequences of past gold and arsenic mining activities in south-western France.
He has also been studying tea since 2000, particularly the role of water composition in the chemical composition of the infusion and its organo-sensory properties. Since 2018, he has collaborated with colleagues from Nguyen Tat Thanh University in Ho Chi Minh City on tea-related projects.
Since 2009, Prof. Philippe Behra has also been involved at the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi, USTH, Vietnam-France University, as co-director of the Franco-Vietnamese Master’s programme in Applied Environmental Sciences.

Laurie Barthe is Professor at the National Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse, Toulouse INP, in France, at the ENSIACET engineering school. She is head of a Master’s program in process and bioprocess engineering. She received her PhD in Chemical Engineering from Toulouse INP in 2007.
Following a postdoctoral position, she was recruited by the University of the Opal Coast in Dunkirk to the Thermal Engineering and Energy team as an Associate Professor in 2009. She then joined Toulouse INP in the Chemical Engineering Laboratory, LGC Toulouse, research group on multiphase reactors, in 2011.
After dedicating her research to multiphase catalytic reactions, her work now focuses on the activation of chemical reactions and the intensification of physical processes using power ultrasound. Her research finds applications in various fields such as biomass valorisation, including algae and agricultural waste, as well as conventional reactions such as the epoxidation of olefins.
Her activities are characterized by strong partnerships with international research programs in Cuba, Vietnam, Indonesia, Algeria and the Philippines. Many projects are also carried out in collaboration with companies. She has authored over 29 peer-reviewed articles, 3 book chapters and more than 60 communications.

Prof. Emmanuel Guillon is Full Professor of Environmental Chemistry at Université de Reims Champagne-Ardenne within the Molecular Chemistry Institute of Reims, ICMR UMR CNRS 7312. He received his PhD in Coordination Chemistry from Université de Reims Champagne-Ardenne in 1996. Following his doctoral studies, he moved to Strasbourg for a postdoctoral position in the Coordination Chemistry Laboratory. He obtained a Full Professor position in 2004.
In 2016, he became a Project Scientific Advisor in charge of the Sciences and Techniques domain within the Research Analysis Service of the French Research Evaluation Department at Hcéres. Since 2023, he has held the MERGE Industrial Chair, which focuses on anaerobic digestion through a holistic approach.
His research focuses on the understanding of the fate of contaminants, including metals, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, microplastics and PFAS, in the environment using a multi-scale approach from the molecular to the macroscopic level. Particular attention is given to the influence of organic waste amendments and the cocktail effect.
Prof. Guillon’s work has resulted in more than 120 publications, books, or patents, with an h-index of 40. Since June 2024, he has served as President of the International Institute for Bioeconomy and Environment, EXEBIO.

Stéphanie Sayen is Full Professor at the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne, where she conducts research at the Molecular Chemistry Institute of Reims, ICMR UMR URCA-CNRS 7312. She received her PhD in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Lorraine in 2003.
She studies the behaviour of organic and inorganic contaminants in environmental matrices, including soil, sediment, biosolid, organic waste and water, using a multi-scale approach. Her work focuses more specifically on contaminant speciation and sorption at solid-liquid interfaces, and more recently on plant uptake.
Sorption for remediation purposes, including biochar and biowaste, is also under consideration. She is particularly interested in establishing structure-property relationships and studying the presence of contaminants in mixtures, especially interactions between metals and organic contaminants through complexation.
Prof. S. Sayen has authored 68 peer-reviewed publications, resulting in an h-index of 30, and has supervised 13 PhD theses. She has coordinated or been involved in several national and international projects.
She is head of the “Environmental Chemistry” research axis of the ICMR UMR URCA/CNRS 7312 research unit and director of the CNRS-supported Argonne Long Term for Socio-Ecological Research, LTSER ZARG, which gathers more than 100 researchers from 18 laboratories across 6 universities.

Over the past decade, Dr. Van VU has led the NTT Hi-Tech Institute (NHTI) at Nguyen Tat Thanh University, growing it from its inception into an internationally recognized institute with more than 70 researchers, including nearly 40 PhD holders.
NHTI has now published over 600 peer-reviewed articles in ISI/Scopus journals, executed 18 NAFOSTED-funded projects and 15 Ministry- and Department-level projects, secured 1 USPTO patent, 7 domestic patents and utility solutions, and filed approximately 30 additional patent applications that have received formal acceptance decisions from the Vietnam Intellectual Property Office.
Research quality and translational impact have been guiding principles throughout. His group's current primary research focuses on polysaccharide monooxygenases (PMOs), novel copper- and oxygen-dependent enzymes that cleave glycoside linkages in polysaccharides via a monooxygenation mechanism.
Because PMOs work synergistically with canonical glycoside hydrolases, they hold tremendous potential for biomass conversion into fermentable sugars, which represents the bottleneck step in the biofuel industry. His goals are to discover novel PMOs from diverse microorganisms and to elucidate their molecular mechanisms, thereby facilitating their practical application in industrial biomass conversion.

Dr. Minh-Thiet VU is Vice Director of the NTT Hi-Tech Institute, Nguyen Tat Thanh University, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. He received his B.S. in Biology from Vietnam National University-Hanoi in 2003, his PhD in Plant Genetics from the National University of Singapore in 2011, and completed postdoctoral training in biomedical science at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, in 2018.
His research background spans molecular biology, genetics, physiology, plant and mouse genetics, omics technologies, flow cytometry, proteomics, and lipidomics.
His current laboratory applies NGS to characterize Vietnam's biological diversity, including bacterial genomes, plant chloroplast genomes, and animal and fungal mitochondrial genomes. The long-term goal is to build genomic resources for Vietnam's medicinal, endemic, and economically important species, while translating whole-genome data into applications in biodiversity conservation, drug discovery, agriculture, and aquaculture.

Dr. Tran Thi Nhu Trang is a Senior Lecturer-Researcher at the NTT Hi-Tech Institute, Nguyen Tat Thanh University, Vietnam, and an invited researcher at the Laboratoire de Chimie Agro-industrielle, LCA – UMR 1010 INRAE / Toulouse INP, France.
She holds a PhD in Analytical Sciences from Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and the CNRS Service Central d’Analyse, now ISA Lyon, and obtained her French Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches in Agroresource Sciences from Toulouse INP in 2025.She previously served as Dean of the Faculty of Environmental and Food Engineering at NTTU from 2018 to 2023.
Her research focuses on analytical sciences applied to environmental, food, and bio-based matrices, with particular expertise in chromatographic and mass spectrometric methods, stable-isotope analysis, molecular fingerprinting, sample preparation, passive sampling, and chemometrics.
Her work addresses food quality, safety, authenticity and traceability, environmental contamination, bioactive compounds, and the valorisation of agro-resources. She has authored 26 peer-reviewed articles in journals such as Analytical Chemistry, Food Chemistry and Chemosphere, mainly as first and/or corresponding author.
She has supervised 2 defended PhD theses, 1 postdoctoral fellow, 21 MSc theses and 40 BSc/engineering projects. Dr. Le Minh BUI serves as the Director of the Small Molecules & Peptide Applied Research Center (SPARC) at the NTT Hi-Tech Institute, Nguyen Tat Thanh University. He earned his PhD in Biological Sciences from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in South Korea in 2015.
His academic background also includes a bachelor's degree in Biology from the VNU University of Science. Prior to his current academic appointments, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Protein and Genomics Engineering Laboratory at KAIST between 2015 and 2018.
His scientific research primarily centers on designing and optimizing antimicrobial peptides using molecular dynamics simulations to combat bacterial resistance. Additionally, his approach to study and mitigate antimicrobial resistance addresses the long-term evolution of microorganisms under biotic stress, or adaptive laboratory evolution (ALE).
Dr. BUI has published 46 peer-reviewed articles and holds one exclusive South Korean patent related to antimicrobial peptide production. As a project leader, he has directed 5 domestic research grants funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology and his university. On an international scale, he has acted as the main coordinator for four collaborative initiatives funded by the British Council and the Erasmus+ program.

Dr. Duc Anh Dinh is the Head of the Centre for Materials & Energy Research at the NTT Hi-Tech Institute, Nguyen Tat Thanh University. He earned his Ph.D. in 2018 from the Italian Institute of Technology and the University of Genoa, Italy.
Currently, Dr. Duc Anh leads a group of young researchers focusing on biodegradable composites derived from local agricultural by-products and the development of two-dimensional materials for energy storage applications.
Over the past eight years, he has authored more than 40 peer-reviewed publications, supervised two graduate students, and coordinated five national research projects.
